SiniVool

Energy-efficient, quiet boating for everyone

Our team

Who are we?

SiniVool is driven by a development team of four dedicated engineering students, united by a shared vision and passion for innovation in marine engineering. Our team brings together broad expertise across production engineering, mechatronics, engineering and technology, and naval architecture and shipbuilding.

To ensure the efficiency of our development process and the highest quality of our solutions, we’ve also brought on three experienced experts from different fields as permanent collaborators.

Our mission

Our goal

Our main goal is to create an innovative small-boat prototype that not only meets strict CE Category C and ISO standards, but also sets a new benchmark for efficiency in electrically powered vessels. From the very start of the design process, we’ve built around the specific characteristics of an electric drivetrain.

In practice, this means we aim to deliver up to twice the range at a cruising speed of 20 knots, together with up to half the energy consumption, compared to alternatives currently on the market.

We achieve this through a carefully engineered hull design and a significant reduction in hull weight. We’re also developing a novel cooling system that makes charging significantly more convenient and practical for the end user – enabling safe charging even while on land.

One of SiniVool’s core commitments is also promoting (marine) engineering among pupils, students and the general public – so that technical talent isn’t lost or left undiscovered, but instead finds its way into even more innovative projects in the future!

Project 2026-2027

Expected project outcomes

As part of the project „Elektriajamile optimeeritud C-kategooria väikelaeva maketi arendus ja elektrisüsteemi integratsioon (TRL5) (2026-2027)“, we plan to accomplish the following:

Documentation

Production-readiness documentation for the small boat (3D models, electrical schematics, calculations), prepared in accordance with CE Category C certification requirements and ISO standards.

Electrical system

Development and testing of the electrical system model, covering both low and high voltage.

Scale model 1:5

Building a 1:5 scale model of the small boat and testing it against theory (material and water tests).

Outreach

Promoting (marine) engineering among pupils, students and the general public through project activities.

Recognition

Raising the project's profile among both the general public and industry experts.

Funding

This work is powered by:

The project is funded by the Estonian state budget through research and development funding, in the amount of €100,000.
